The Comic Book Part 3
Jade woke up and stretched. It was 8 o'clock at night and she was back in her room. "I guess if you go to sleep while you're dreaming you wake up." she murmured. But wait! She wasn't in her room; she was in the kitchen sitting at the table. And hey, what was she wearing. She stood up and looked down. She was wearing a pink crop top with a matching pink mini skirt. She even had pink boots with a black jewel right in the middle! And pink gloves with the same black jewel. This was just freaky weird. On the table was her comic book. Did that have anything to do with it? No, couldn't be. It must have been another one of her sister's, Joan pranks. But this, she admitted to herself, is even a little weird for her. How could Joan have dressed her in this get up, brought her down stairs, and sat her down at the table? She brushed off the thought went to the microwave. There was a plate on the countertop with a note on it. She picked it up and began reading. Here's some leftover dinner. I went out but don't you dare tell mom! - Joan Jade crumpled the note and threw the plate into the microwave. She had to give Joan some credit. Even if she did pull that trick on her, at least she saved her some dinner. Jade listened to the microwave and watched as the plate inside went round and round. The house was empty except for the tap-tap of the tree on the window. Her mom was at a conference, her dad was still at work, and now Joan was probably at a party. She pulled the plate out at the sound of the "DING!" and walked into the living room. Suddenly changing her mind, Jade dropped her plate on the table and grabbed her coat and key. She rushed out the door and across the street. Vanessa was sure to be watching TV with her brothers. She rang the doorbell. The door opened and Charlie (Vanessa's youngest brother) popped his head out. "Hey Charlie! Is Nessa home?" she asked brightly. Charlie smiled and yelled for his sister who soon appeared at the door with her coat. "Hey! So where are we going?" Vanessa asked closing the door. "I was wondering if you wanted to watch some TV with me." Jade explained. "You have to ask!!?" Vanessa exclaimed. "Race, ya!" Vanessa took off running leaving Jade in the dust. Jade laughed and ran to meet her friend at the porch. Vanessa waited for Jade to fish out her key then ran straight into the house. "Hurry!" she called. "Batman is on and it was getting good!" she ran into the living room and turned on the TV. Vanessa had been to Jade's house at least once a week since kindergarten, you do the math. She kept extra clothes at the house and even had a key! They were more than friends, they were family. "So where's Jay (Joan)?" Vanessa asked plopping down on the couch. "Who knows?" Jade said joining her. "Who cares?" "Cool, let's have a PJ party!" exclaimed Vanessa. She jumped up and ran up the steps. A few moments later she ran back down caring two pairs of pairs of pajamas. The girls relaxed on the sofa and Jade tried to forget about school, her family, and any other worries she had. She could always count on Vanessa, candy, and the Teen Titans to do that for her. "Jade, Cyborg made the feast of waffles and milk would you like to engage in breakfast." Starfire offered. Jade stretched and opened her eyes. She was in the Titan Tower again. She rose from her bed and touched her bare feet to the tiled floor. "I'll be there in a sec" she called to Starfire. She stood in front of a mirror and examined her new look. She had blonde hair and glowing lavender eyes. Her hands were covered with black gloves. She wore pink mini with thigh-high stockings and a pink top. This was beyond cool. Smiling she ran from the rehabilitation center to the kitchen were the rest of the team greeted her. She was a Titan. "Hey, feeling better?" Cyborg asked. "Much. So what's up?" Jade asked walking over to the stove. "Just waiting for you." Robin answered. "I made waffles!" Cyborg boosted. "And I made pancakes." said Beast Boy. "Did you put that nasty tofu chunk in there again?" Cyborg asked. "No." Beast Boy answered. Cyborg smiled and shoved 5 pancakes into his mouth. "I made them with soy flour." Beast Boy finished. Cyborg gagged and began scrubbing his tongue with his waffle and gargled with syrup. Jade laughed. This was better than cable! She grabbed a plate and filled it with everything (except for the pancakes) and sat down with the team. "Doesn't anyone want any pancakes?" Beast Boy asked. "I'll try some!" Starfire called. She piled 10 on her plate and squirted mustard and pickles all over them. "Yum! This syrup is most delicious." she exclaimed taking a huge bite out of the stack. "BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP!!!" A flashing red light came on the computer screen. Robin rushed over to the computer. He hit a couple of keys and Billy Numerous' face popped onto the screen. He was at a bank and a couple of his doubles were shoving money into a bag. "Hurry up, Billy!" one called. "This is easier mud wrestle 'in a Billy goat!" exclaimed another Billy "The banks in trouble, TITANS GO!" he cried running out the door. Jade jumped up and began running behind him.
The Comic Book Part 2
Jade lay back on her bed. It was Monday morning and she did not want to get up. The weekend had been so great. The best she'd had in months! Now she was headed back to Morris Academy. She stretched and got out of bed. A half hour later she was on the road walking the short distance to school with Vanessa. She wore pink camouflage pants and a green T-shirt. Her pink backpack hung on her shoulder. Vanessa walked besides her wearing her signature blue tights with an orange mini over top and Jade's blue tank top. "Hey, cool comic book!" Vanessa exclaimed finally noticing the book she clutched in her left hand. "Yea, I just found it on my desk this morning. My mom probably got it for me to apologize for the move." Jade explained. "OOOHHHH, and it's Teen Titans! Awesome!" Vanessa said as the girls stopped in front of her school. "Hmm…so I'll see you after school?" Jade was saying. "No, can do. Mom wants to take me shopping for a late birthday present so I'll see you tomorrow." Vanessa said running up the steps of her school. Jade smiled and turned her attention to her book and started reading. School flew by and the next thing she knew she was home again. Jade kicked off her shoes and threw her bag to the ground, hurrying to her room. She flopped on her bed and continued to read. "Jade! Jade! Are you ok?" Jade rubbed her eyes and blinked. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep on her bed but now right in front of her was Robin. The Robin! "Umm…Robin?" Jade asked blinking again. Was she dreaming? "She's awake!" Robin called back. And before she knew it Jade was surrounded by the Teen Titans. This had to be a dream. "Yea, what happen?" she asked trying to "play-along". "There was a battle with Cinderblock and you went down pretty hard." Cyborg explained. Jade sat up in the bed and started to get up. "No way, dude!" Beast Boy exclaimed waving his arms in the air. "You need to rest." said Raven. "Your powers go wacko-crazy when you're out of it!" Beast Boy cried. "And getting hit through three walls would defiantly qualify you to as out of it." Cyborg finished. "I am sorry, friend but you must stay put." said Starfire. Jade sighed and sunk back into the bed. She watched as the Titans left the room so she could "rest". This sucks, she thought. I have the best dream ever and I'm stuck in bed. I wonder if it's possible to fall asleep while you're dreaming….
The Comic Book
"So are we still on for tomorrow?" Jade asked. "Defiantly! I can't wait! Their showing all five seasons of Teen Titans plus the lost episode and the movie Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo!" Vanessa exclaimed. Jade and Vanessa were nuts about cartoons, especially the Teen Titans. And later today there was going to be a marathon lasting all weekend. Jade never got to spend time with Vanessa now that she went to Morris Academy, a private school her mother signed her up for. So this was big! "Ok! I'll see you after school!" Vanessa gushed waving. Jade smiled and pulled at her baggy cargo pants. Morris wasn't a normal school. It was exclusive! All the students wore cashmere sweaters with ruffles miniskirts. They wore belly baring tank tops with diamond studs. Their hair probably cost more than Jade's entire wardrobe put together! How could Jade compete with that! "Don't worry, you'll be fine!" Vanessa called as she rushed down the street. It was easy for her to say, thought Jade. She never had to step foot into Morris. Jade looked through one of the clear glass doors of Morris Academy and grimaced. It was Alicia Ruth. She wore a blue tank top and a pink pleated skirt. She had her long blonde hair tied back in a tight ponytail. This meant only one thing, cheerleading practice. And Jade had walked right in on it. Jade shoved her hands into her pockets, they had already seen her. No turning back now. She put on a smile and walked through the door. She was only inside for a few seconds when she heard Alicia. "Hey check it out, a new fabulous outfit from the Salvation Army!" Alicia sneered. The girls behind her broke into hysterics. "Yup, I recognize the smell of old sweat anywhere." Jade hutched over and ran past them. "Wait! I wanted to know what church function you stole those pants from!" Alicia yelled after her. Alicia was the first person she had met at Morris and let's just say, it wasn't a happy memory. Jade ran straight to her class and collapsed in her seat. It seemed like no one really knew how she felt. Vanessa, her best friend in the world was probably hanging out with Marcus (her crush) and Megan (her second best friend) right about now. Not even they knew how she felt. Jade did a quick scoop of the room. Shawn, the class clown was shooting spit balls at the teacher's desk. Lauren, the bookworm was up to her ears in papers and had her textbook open. Kitty, the cheerleading captain was standing by the door with her boyfriend Brad. Brad, the football star had Kitty pinned to a wall and was whispering something in her ear. She giggled and gentle shoved him "Oh, Brad!" she cried. There was one thing that all these kids had in common. They all had Designer jackets, pants, shirts, shoes, boots, sweaters, bags, and purses. Even Lauren had a Designer book cover. What did she have? Vanessa and Jade sat in the middle of the floor in Jade's living room. A popcorn bowl was squeezed in-between them and pillows clustered around their heads. They stared at the TV screen with great intensity that is, until a commercial came on. "I love Robin in this episode." Vanessa said as she got up from her seat. "The Titans have such a strong bond, don't you think." Jade asked. "Yea, I guess so." Vanessa reached for the popcorn bowl. "More popcorn?" "Hmmm…I wish I could be a Titan. It would be so cool!" Jade continued. "mmmhhmmm…" replied Vanessa as she stuffed another handful of popcorn in her mouth. "The Titans are always there for each other, you know." Jade said smiling. She stood up and brushed off her blue and yellow PJs. "Is this a way of getting me back for letting you go to that Morris school?" asked Vanessa. "No. I'm just saying. It's kind of hard going to a school with kids so different, and having no friends." Jade answered reaching for the popcorn bowl. "I know…and I would transfer in a heartbeat if I could." Vanessa said pulling on her orange braid. Jade sighed. She didn't want her friend to feel guilty. It wasn't her fault that Jade was at Morris. It wasn't her fault that Alicia constantly targeted her every day. And it wasn't her fault that the Morris kids were so stuck up! She turned to her friend and smiled. "Let's get some more food before it comes back on." she said heading for the kitchen. Vanessa smiled gratefully and grabbed the bowl.
